In it Adele, the multi-multi millionaire, is observed using a very retro looking flip phone to call her former love. But as a result of the internet, the telephone has become it’s breakout star, with fans creating many a meme, since they wonder, how does Adele still such a rubbish phone?
One fan, who clearly knew their Adele history, even been able to find a throwback picture from the star having a flip phone, proving that she’s always loved the retro device. But for why a flip phone was chosen, video director Xavier Dolan told the LA Times, “I could see the GIFs on Twitter. I’m like, ‘guys, conquer it. It doesn’t matter.”

“But the true explanation is the fact that I never like filming modern phones or cars. They’re so implanted within our lives any time you see them in movies you’re reminded you are in reality. If you observe an iPhone or perhaps a Toyota in the movie, they’re anti-narrative, they get you out with the story. If I put an iPhone or possibly a modern car in a very movie it feels as though I’m building a commercial.” the director added.
Another element of the playback quality which caused some online discussion was the scene by which Adele creates a cup of tea. The singer is shown putting her tea bag inside cup following the hot water! Yes, it appears Adele has some funny ideas when it comes to generating a good cup a joe.
Of course it had been only destined to be a matter of time before someone took it upon themselves to generate an Adele/Lionel Richie mash-up. Richie’s 1984 hit ‘Hello’ has provided an abundance of unintentional comedy over time, so an Adele/ Lionel telephone call was that which you were all secretly awaiting.
In the mash-up video Adele is shown answering her phone, when she hears it’s Lionel however saying ‘hello’ she quickly hangs up. Speaking on Nick Grimshaw BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show on Friday, Adele joked around the similarities between her and Lionel’s songs.
“We’ve definitely got a chance to do something, me and Lionel,” Adele said, before suggesting they hold a competitive “hello-off”. ‘Hello’ will show up on Adele’s long awaited third album, 25 that’s due to be released on November 20th.
